Fun Phrases:

Associate with men of good
quality, if you esteem your
own reputation;
For it is better to be alone,
than in bad company.

American President

Barn Braining

Welcome to my site!

Barn Braining was created from a 'barn storming' session!
I had the idea of getting people together, finding alternative
low cost energy methods, gardening, farming, organics,
homesteading and much more!

I hope you'll stick around, read a little, contribute if you like
and join our forum!     (see '~contact/join ~'  tab)

Today is Wednesday July 28th, the high
heat has been hanging around, turning
everything brown quickly.

We've had some quick arriving, fierce
storms that blow their majestic winds
and make the trees bend sideways.
You know the kind that send your garbage
cans tumbling down your driveway and
carry anything not tied down in your yard,
into your neighbors yard,.. 'kind of storms'.
However, as tuff as they blow, they have
not produced much rainfall to help out much.

Today in History in the year 1943, President
Franklin D. Roosevelt announced the end
of coffee rationing in the U.S. (this was
before my time, but ohh I would have been
a horder of this product had I of been there!)

Congress makes the 'Star-Spangled Banner'
our 2nd national anthem in 1931.

In 1868 the 14th Amendment was ratified,
granting citizenship to ex-slaves.

The Metric system, in 1866, becomes a
legal measurement system in the U.S.

Nadar takes the 1st airborne photo
in 1858, from an air balloon.

I have started taking all my canning
supplies from their hiding places,
searching for jars and lids as well as
recipes to make this year.

If you have any you'd like to share,
send them in.
I have some I will be trying and
I'll let you know how they turned out
as well as post them here for you.

***July's New Moon occurs on the 11th of the month.
The Full Moon of July will be on the 25th and is known
as the 'Full Buck Moon' because it's the month new
antlers of buck deer start to grow from their heads.
It is also often called the "Full Thunder Moon" as
thunderstorms are more frequent during this time.
It may also be called the "Full Hay Moon".***
